Preliminary results show that the strategies we received were of a high standard. The event is a great opportunity to network with students, academics and professionals from around the country who all care for the best interests of students. Alan Pollard, BCS President, will be in attendance to award the top prize.
We will also propose future contest ideas and have an opportunity to provide your own input, shaping the BCS Student Contest in the future.
With the recent reduction in graduate vacancies in the UK we are keen to assist our student members in setting themselves apart from the rest of the job market. The BCS Student Contest 2009 enabled you to demonstrate an interest in IT outside of your academic studies. The Awards Evening provides the opportunity to network with leading professionals that have already forged successful careers within IT.
The BCS Student Contest is just one example of the commitment made by the YPG to improve the services provided for its students members.
The YPG are currently undertaking a student membership consultation. When you attend the Student Contest Awards Evening on June 12th you will have the opportunity to review our latest draft recommendations. Your honest thoughts and opinions would be most appreciated as we look to formally release the paper later this month.
We are also currently accepting nominations for a national IT student body ambassador. If you are currently studying an IT related degree and care about the issues affecting students and the IT industry then this a great opportunity for you to become and active member of the YPG's Executive Committee. As the student body ambassador you will bring first hand knowledge to the committee and will have the opportunity to directly influence the activities, services and opportunities that the BCS provides to its student and young professional members.
This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with the IT profession and to take the lead on issues that are affecting students; as student body ambassador your role will be to innovate, ask tough questions and to chair the YPG's student work stream.

We look forward to seeing you on the night!
